The College of Engineering at UT Austin has consistently remained among the ranks of the country's top engineering schools. The 2010 edition of the U.S. News & World Report survey of 199 of the country's engineering graduate schools ranked UT's College of Engineering as the nation's eleventh best overall in graduate quality.

The 2009 edition of the U. S. News & World Report survey of the country's engineering undergraduate schools ranked UT Austin eleventh in the nation among 350 accredited engineering schools, and sixth among public institutions. The magazine surveyed deans and select faculty of engineering schools for its latest issue of America's Best Colleges, and UT Austin's departmental engineering programs were all ranked in the top 20: Aerospace (11th), Biomedical (18th), Chemical (7th), Civil (4th), Computer (6th), Electrical/Electronics (10th), Environmental (4th) and Mechanical (12th), and Petroleum (1st). As a multidisciplinary graduate program that spans the entire College of Engineering and much of the College of Natural Sciences, the MS&E Program attracts top-ranked faculty from accross the campus.

The College's 247 professorial faculty, 680 staff, and 1,591 student employees serve more than 7,100 students enrolled in nine undergraduate and 17 graduate programs.

Our faculty members are recognized worldwide for their expertise. The College ranks fourth in number of faculty who are National Academy of Engineering members. Additionally, members have earned more than 70 young faculty awards from the National Science Foundation. Our students are among the most highly qualified in the country - UT Austin attracts the second highest number of National Merit Scholars in the nation.
