Lele Peng (left) and Ye Shi (right), both former Ph.D. students in the Materials Science & Engineering graduate program at Texas Materials Institute, were named recipients of the ‘Outstanding Chinese Ph.D. Students Studying Abroad Scholarship’ by the Ministry of Education for their outstanding Ph.D. research at TMI. They ranked highly (#1 and #3) among hundreds of other applicants through the Chinese Consulate General in Houston this year.
This award was founded by the Chinese government in 2003 with the purpose of rewarding the academic excellence of self-financed Chinese students studying overseas. Only those with outstanding performance in their Ph.D. studies are considered by the award selection panel, and no more than 500 young talents worldwide are granted the award each year.
Please help us congratulate Lele and Ye! Both student’s dissertation research was under the supervision of Dr. Guihua Yu. You can find out more about Dr. Yu and his group at his research page here.
