Two readers (faculty supervisor plus at least one additional faculty member; should be chosen in consultation with faculty supervisor and graduate adviser, and should be asked before being listed as part of thesis committee.)
Once you have an approved research topic from your supervisor, you may register for thesis.
- First semester of thesis registration: MSE 698A (3 credit hours)
- Subsequent semester(s) of thesis registration: MSE 698B* (3 credit hours).
Be sure to register for MS&E thesis, not the thesis course in your faculty supervisor’s home department (Engineering Mechanics, Chemistry, etc.). Since your degree is in Materials Science and Engineering, your thesis course must be in MS&E as well.
*You must be registered for MSE 698B during the semester in which your thesis is filed with the Graduate School, usually the semester you graduate.
