Students must be advised every semester until they have scheduled their preliminary oral exam. The advising process is as follows:
- Students retrieve advising card from graduate coordinator.
- Students discuss proposed courses for next semester of study with faculty supervisor.
- Students discuss proposed courses for next semester of study with graduate adviser.
- Students return initialed advising card to graduate coordinator, who will lift the advising bar. Advising cards must be initialed by both the faculty supervisor and graduate adviser in order for the graduate coordinator to lift the advising bar.
The graduate coordinator will send out reminders for advising/registration, including the graduate adviser’s office hours. Students should make an effort to see their faculty supervisor prior to the graduate adviser’s office hours.
Faculty and students may consult the current courses page to review current required course offerings as well as available thrust courses and suggested available elective courses.
